Barriers to Treatment

Oftentimes we hear things from potential clients that make us want to weep with empathy. There are more myths about mental health therapy than there are facts, but even worse - there are institutions that continue to stay stuck in their treatment models with the idea that there isn’t anything better.

They’re wrong.

What do potential clients say to us about barriers to treatment?

"I don't want to talk about it."

You don't have to talk about it with our treatment approaches.

"It's too expensive."

You only pay what you can afford, and our donors cover the rest.

"I'll get fired if I go to therapy."

Everything is confidential with few exceptions. Since we are private pay, we don't even inform insurance about your treatments.

"Other people had it way worse than me."

Trauma is neurological. If you're experiencing symptoms, it's a problem.. Your brain doesn't care that your opinion differs from it's experience. .

"I've already been to therapy and it made me worse."

I believe you, and that's why we use different approaches to therapy with the goal of getting just a little better every session instead of getting worse first. If we’re not helpful, we will make sure you are referred to someone who may be a better fit.

We need your support.

Donations are used to support our client scholarships and upcoming projects.
